The Virginia Economic Developers Association (VEDA) presented Bedford County with a 2013 Community Economic Development Award at its Spring Conference on March 29, 2013 for its work in linking high school students with local businesses based on student career interests. Since Bedford County’s One Program began in 2008, hundreds of students have toured dozens of local industries and learned about jobs and education requirements for each type of career. The program is coordinated by the Office of Economic Development and guided by a steering committee made up of school, industry and Chamber of Commerce officials. Learn more here.
