The Virginia Agricultural Community College Consortium is a partnership between Bedford County, Central Virginia Community College, Patrick Henry Community College, and Southwest Virginia Community College. It is primarily funded by the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission (VTICRC) to establish agricultural curriculum programs offered by the community colleges in the VTICRC service area. The Consortium serves as a catalyst to create a seamless agricultural education system in Virginia from "K through Gray" that is affordable, accessible, efficient, and effective. The Consortium facilitates innovative collaborations between state supported institutions and explores new funding models and sources to sustain agricultural education in the state at all levels. The Consortium partners with other industry groups to remove barriers and provide solutions resulting in more new farms and agribusinesses in Virginia. Additional college partners will be announced in August, 2009.
