Bedford County is proud to serve its business community, and to that end, the county has dedicated both staff and resources to an economic development program that is firmly based on the retention and expansion of existing businesses as well as new business development.
Explore the resources and find out how Bedford County's Office of Economic Development can make your business more profitable by providing the best solutions for your business needs.
- Business Outreach – We strive by staying apprised of our businesses concerns and issues affecting their success through our business visitation program, the annual recognition of the business community during Business Appreciation Week, informative and supportive workshops, seminars, newsletters and news releases.
- Business License – Bedford County does not require, nor does it provide applications for, a general County Business License. However, depending on the type of business you are opening, you may be required to apply for other specialty licenses or permits from Bedford County or the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Incentive Program – The program is made available to new and expanding companies in the manufacturing and service sector, provided that the criteria meets the appropriate levels for investment and job provision.
- Business Resources – A listing of local, regional, state, and federal contacts that assists businesses in starting a business to training and development.
- Business Directory – The directory both online and hardcopy is a free service to non-retail businesses operating in Bedford County with five (5) or more employees.
