The mission of the Bedford County Economic Development Authority is to sustain and improve the quality of life for all of Bedford County through a prudent and cost effective economic development program that results in good quality jobs for all residents.
EDA members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors to four-year terms and generally, represent one of the seven election districts. Members may be re-appointed at the will of the board member. EDA officers are elected by the EDA members at the February annual organizational meeting of the Authority.
Besides developing and implementing the county’s economic development program, the EDA also has the authority to borrow money, issue bonds, and buy and sell land on behalf of the county to support economic development projects.

Monthly Meetings
The Bedford County Economic Development Authority meets on the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the County Administration Board Room located on the top floor of Bedford County Administration Building, 122 E. Main St., Bedford, VA 24523.

Annual Meetings
During October, the meeting is a Joint Meeting with the Bedford County Board of Supervisors and in March, the EDA holds a Planning Day to focus on strategies and work plans. All meetings are posted on the bulletin board outside the County Administration office and communicated on the website.
